What This Page Covers

Where Blemish Removal Earns Its Place

dermatosis papulosa nigra treated with blemish removal in Phoenix

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra

Small raised spots that gather across the cheeks, the temples, and the sides of the forehead. They are benign, they often run in families, and they tend to increase with age.

Treatments+

Each spot is assessed and treated individually rather than swept across as a field. Tasha decides how many to address in one visit based on how your skin sits and how it heals.

Causes+

DPN is largely inherited rather than earned. Sun does not cause it, though it is often mistaken for sun damage.

How Removal Heals

What to expect, step by step

Treatment Day

Day 1

Each treated spot is slightly darker and may crust. The area around it is pink. It looks worse tonight than the spot did this morning, and that is expected.

Tap to flip

Spots Clear

Days 3-10

Crusts fall away on their own over the first week or so. Do not pick them. The skin underneath is pink and new.

Weeks 2-4

Pinkness fades to match the surrounding skin. Some spots want a second pass at the follow-up; we tell you which at the time.

Identification Comes Before Removal

Why Patients Choose Us

Identification Comes Before Removal

Removing a spot is the easy part. Knowing what it is, and knowing when it is not ours to treat, is the part that matters. Nothing gets added while you are in the chair.

Your plan is set by Tasha Wright Ford, RN, Master Injector, 22+ years in nursing and 16+ years injecting. Dr. Anna Mkrtchyan, Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD), is our Medical Director. Kelly, our aesthetician of 17+ years, works alongside them.

Every plan follows a full health history and an assessment of each blemish individually. Both happen before anything is treated. Your skin tone and your history of scarring both change how we approach a raised spot.

Some lesions need medical evaluation rather than aesthetic removal. Anything that has changed, anything that bleeds, and anything we cannot confidently identify gets referred. You are welcome back once that has been settled properly.

Good Questions

Your Blemish Removal Questions,
Answered

The things patients ask before booking a removal. If yours is not here, call 602-469-8693 and ask.

DPN stands for dermatosis papulosa nigra. It describes the small raised spots that gather across the cheeks, temples, and forehead, most often in deeper skin tones. They are benign, they frequently run in families, and they tend to increase in number with age. They are not caused by sun, though they are often mistaken for sun damage.

Individual spots can be addressed, and that is the usual reason patients book this treatment. Because DPN is inherited rather than earned, removing today's spots does not stop new ones appearing later. Tasha Wright Ford, RN explains that clearly at consultation so the plan you agree to reflects what actually happens.

This page covers raised surface blemishes, with DPN at the center of it. Our skin irregularity removal page covers a separate set: spider veins, cherry angiomas, actinic keratosis, and flat pigmented lesions. If you are not sure which describes your mark, book a consultation and we will sort it in a few minutes.

Topical numbing is used where it is needed and we wait for it to take effect. Most people describe a brief sharp sensation at each site rather than sustained discomfort, and each spot takes only a moment. We check in as we go and stop whenever you ask us to.

Every treated site goes through a healing phase before it settles. A temporary change in color at the site is common, particularly in deeper skin tones. How your skin scars and pigments is part of what we assess before booking you. We will not promise you an invisible result, because nobody honestly can.

That depends on what the blemish actually is, your skin tone, and your history of scarring. Your medications and what your skin is doing right now also count. We take a full health history and assess each spot before booking anything. Sometimes the honest answer is to leave a spot alone, and we will say so.

Then we refer you. Anything that has changed shape, color, or size belongs in a medical evaluation. So does anything that bleeds, and anything we cannot confidently identify. We would rather send you across town than take a booking we should not have.

Call 602-469-8693 or use our contact page to request an appointment. We are at 707 E Palo Verde Dr, Ste A, Phoenix, AZ 85014. That is Uptown Phoenix, and we see patients from across the valley. Your first visit is an assessment, and you leave with a plan and a price.
