What to expect, step by step

It is a small crystal bonded to the front surface of a tooth with dental adhesive. The tooth is cleaned and dried, the adhesive goes on, and the gem is set and cured in place. Nothing is drilled and no enamel is taken away at any point in the appointment.
Nothing is drilled and no enamel is removed, so the tooth underneath is left as it was. What matters is keeping the area clean, because anything bonded to a tooth gives plaque somewhere to gather. Brushing and flossing carry on exactly as before, and we cover that in your written aftercare.
There is nothing sharp involved and no numbing needed. Most people find the drying step the least comfortable part, and it is brief. You sit through the appointment rather than recovering from it, and you can eat and drink normally the same day.
That varies with the tooth, the position, and your habits. Biting hard things on that tooth is what loosens a gem more than anything else. We will not quote you a number of months, because the honest answer depends on how you live with it.
