PDO Threads

PDO threads are fine dissolvable sutures placed under the skin to reposition soft tissue and prompt your own collagen where it has thinned. At our Phoenix boutique they are placed by Dr. Anna Mkrtchyan, NMD, and only after an assessment says a thread is the right tool.

  • Placed by Dr. Anna Mkrtchyan, NMD

What It Treats

What PDO Threads Treat

jawline and jowls treated with pdo threads in Phoenix

Jawline and Jowls

Lifting threads are anchored higher on the face and gently reposition the soft tissue that has slipped toward the jaw. The aim is a cleaner line, not a pulled one. Dr. Mkrtchyan maps where the tissue has moved from before she plans where a thread goes.

Causes+

Fat pads and ligaments loosen with age, and the tissue that used to sit on the cheek settles along the jaw.

How Threads Settle

What to expect, step by step

Tap to flip

Treatment Day

Day 1

There is an immediate lift from the mechanical placement, with swelling and sometimes a pulling sensation that eases over a few days. Sleeping on your back for the first nights helps.

Settling and Collagen

Weeks 2-6

Swelling clears and the tissue settles around the threads. Your own collagen starts forming along them; by six weeks the lift reads more natural than it did on day one.

Threads Dissolve, Collagen Holds

Months 6-12

PDO threads dissolve over roughly six months. The collagen they prompted stays longer, so most patients keep an improvement well past the threads themselves, typically into the twelve-month range.

Threads Are Not a Facelift

Why Patients Choose Us

Threads Are Not a Facelift

Threads can lift tissue a modest distance and support it while collagen forms around them. Where the slack has gone past what a suture can hold, surgery is the honest answer and we will say so.

Tasha owns GlamWright Medical Boutique and brings 22+ years in nursing and 16+ years injecting. Threading is a mapping problem before it is a needle problem, and the vector is decided with you sitting upright.

A lift measured in millimetres is a real result for the right face and a waste of money for the wrong one. If we think you would be disappointed, you will hear that in the consultation rather than at the two-month mark.

We see patients at 707 E Palo Verde Dr, Ste A, Phoenix, AZ 85014, in Uptown Phoenix. Call 602-469-8693 and we will find a time. Thread placement is assessed in person, because a face lifts differently lying down than it does sitting up.

The Appointment

What a PDO Thread Appointment Looks Like

Threads are planned, not improvised. The first appointment is the assessment; the placement itself is measured, numbed, and unhurried.

Step 01 · History

We Take Your Health History

Every plan here starts with a complete health history. Medications, bleeding disorders, autoimmune conditions, active skin infection and pregnancy all change what is appropriate. Dr. Anna Mkrtchyan, Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD), is our Co-Owner and Medical Director and places every thread herself.

  • Medications and supplements, especially blood thinners
  • Previous threads, filler or surgery in the area
  • Health conditions that change the plan

FAQ

PDO Thread Questions,
Answered

The questions we hear most at our Uptown Phoenix boutique. Anything specific to your face is answered at your consultation.

PDO stands for polydioxanone, a material used in dissolvable surgical sutures for decades. As a cosmetic treatment, fine PDO threads are placed under the skin. Lifting threads have tiny barbs that hold and reposition tissue; smooth threads have none and are used to prompt collagen. The thread itself dissolves over months, and the collagen it prompts stays longer.

No. A thread lift repositions soft tissue by a modest amount and firms the skin over time. It does not remove skin or tighten the deeper layers the way surgery does. Dr. Mkrtchyan is direct about this at the consultation, and if what you want needs a surgeon, she will tell you.

Dr. Anna Mkrtchyan, NMD, our Co-Owner and Medical Director. She assesses, plans and places every thread herself.

The thread dissolves over a period of months. The collagen response it prompts, and the repositioning from lifting threads, generally hold longer than the thread itself. How long is individual, and it depends on the area, the type of thread, and your own skin. Dr. Mkrtchyan gives you a realistic window at your consultation.

The area is numbed first. Most patients describe pressure and a tugging sensation rather than pain during placement, and tenderness for a few days afterwards. You can drive yourself home.

Expect swelling, some bruising and a tight feeling for the first days, and a little tenderness for longer. Your written aftercare covers sleeping on your back, limiting wide facial movement, and holding off on facials, massage and hard exercise for a few weeks. Most patients plan threads around a quieter week.

Often, yes, and in a planned order. Threads reposition tissue, filler restores volume, and a neurotoxin softens movement. Which of those you need, and in what sequence, comes out of the assessment rather than a package.

Yes. We are at 707 E Palo Verde Dr, Ste A, Phoenix, AZ 85014, in Uptown Phoenix, and much of the valley is a short drive away. Call 602-469-8693 to book a consultation.
