Facial Volume Loss & Sunken Cheeks

Cheeks Flatten Long Before Lines Do

Your face reads tired in photographs before anything else changes. The cheek sits lower than it used to. Light that once caught the top of the cheek now falls across a flat plane. The folds beside your mouth deepen.

Why It Happens

What Sits Behind a Flattening Midface

Cheek volume is fat, bone and collagen working together. When any one of them moves, the surface follows. Tasha Wright Ford, RN reads which layer is doing it before she recommends anything. Treating the wrong layer is how faces end up looking filled instead of restored.

01

Fat Pads Descend

The face carries fat in compartments, and they sit lower with age. The upper cheek empties while the lower face gains weight it never used to carry. Nothing was lost; it moved.

02

Bone Remodels Underneath

The cheekbone and the eye socket lose their edge over time. Skin and fat that once had a shelf to sit on now drape instead. Less frame, the same covering.

03

Collagen Thins Out

Collagen holds the skin taut over whatever sits beneath it. As it thins, the surface stops resisting gravity and starts reporting the shape underneath. That is when photographs change.

04

Rapid Weight Change

Fast weight loss pulls volume from the face first. Patients often arrive pleased with the number on the scale and unsettled by the mirror. The two rarely agree on progress.

How We Treat It

Three Ways We Restore Midface Volume

Tasha Wright Ford, RN does not start with a product. She maps where the volume left, then picks the material that belongs in that layer. Sometimes that is one syringe. Sometimes it is a series.

Sculptra

Sculptra

Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid. It asks your own collagen to build, so the change arrives gradually rather than in a single afternoon.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid gels that add volume where it left. They are placed in a specific layer at a specific depth, and they can be dissolved.

Radiesse

Radiesse

Radiesse is a calcium-based filler. It adds structure on placement and stimulates collagen in the period that follows.

What the First Appointment Covers

The first appointment is mostly listening. We take your health history, then look at your face at rest and while you talk. You hear where the volume actually went, what we would place, and what it costs. Nothing gets added in the chair. You can take the plan home and book later, and that is genuinely fine.

Health History First

Every plan starts with your full medical history. Medications, conditions and past treatments all change what is safe and what is sensible. We take it before we look at your face.

Facial Assessment

We assess your face at rest and in movement. Volume loss shows differently when you smile, so a still photograph on its own tells us less than it appears to.

The Plan and the Price

You leave with a written plan and a price before you commit to anything. If a treatment is wrong for your face, you hear that instead.

Holding the Result

Volume keeps moving after treatment, because aging does not stop. We set a review point so the result is topped up on assessment rather than on a calendar.

What We Will Not Do

We do not chase a result you brought in on a phone. Faces are built differently, and what suits someone else's bone structure will not suit yours. Tasha treats the face in front of her.

Who provides your care

Registered Nurse-led care you can trust

Your plan is guided by Tasha Wright Ford, RN, our owner and lead injector, with 22 years as a Registered Nurse and 16 years of injecting experience. Dr. Anna Mkrtchyan, NMD, a Naturopathic Medical Doctor, serves as our Medical Director, and Kelly, our aesthetician, brings 17 years in skin and facial care. We assess your skin and full health history first, talk through whether a treatment is right for you, including anyone who should wait such as during pregnancy or with an active skin infection, and only recommend what genuinely suits you.

Start With A Consultation

We assess first. You leave with a plan and a price.

FAQ

Common Questions About
Facial Volume Loss

Volume leaves the midface from four directions at once. Fat pads descend, the cheekbone remodels, collagen thins, and rapid weight change empties what is left. Tasha Wright Ford, RN works out which of those is leading before she recommends anything.

The contour can be restored and the clock cannot. Filler and collagen stimulators put structure back where it left, which is why the face reads fuller. What is achievable for your face is answered at your assessment in Phoenix.

With injectables placed against the structure that changed. Dermal fillers add volume on the day, Sculptra asks your own collagen to build over a series, and Radiesse adds support along bone. Which one suits you depends on the layer that emptied.

The face gives up fat early and unevenly. Weight loss takes volume from the cheek before it takes it anywhere you wanted, which is why the mirror and the scale disagree. We assess the face once your weight has settled.

Not when it is placed properly. Volume goes into the layer that emptied, which lifts the surface rather than widening it. Overfilled faces come from treating the surface instead of the structure. Tasha maps placement against your bone before anything is opened.

It depends on the product, the amount and how quickly your body metabolizes it, which is why two people on the same material get different mileage. Tasha gives you the window she expects for your face at your consultation.

You get a price with your plan, before you commit to anything. Cost depends on the material and how much of it your face actually needs, which is only knowable after an assessment. Call 602-469-8693 to book one in Phoenix.

Neither is better in general, and one is usually better for you. Filler gives volume you can see on the day. Sculptra builds your own collagen across a series and arrives gradually. Tasha recommends based on the layer that emptied.
